Help Us Secure Clean Water and Sustainable Support for Orphaned Children in Karatina, Kenya

About Pavilion Village

Pavilion Village is a Christian children’s home located in Karatina, Kenya, established in 2006 with a heart to care for orphaned and vulnerable children. It was founded with a vision to provide love, shelter, education, and spiritual formation for children in need, raising them in a family-centered environment.

Since opening, 55 children have called Pavilion Village home. We are currently caring for 29 children. Over the years, 3 have graduated from university with degrees, 11 have completed diploma programs, and 3 more are nearing completion of their diplomas. 7 are currently in high school, while the remaining children are in primary and junior secondary school. This legacy of transformation is a testimony to God’s faithfulness and the power of consistent care rooted in Christian values.

Founded by compassionate believers and supported through partnerships with churches and donors around the world, Pavilion Village has grown to be a place of hope, healing, and holistic care. The village includes dormitories, staff quarters, farming operations, and community outreach programs. Children at Pavilion Village receive:

  • Safe housing and nourishing meals

  • Access to education and spiritual discipleship

  • Medical care and emotional support

  • A family atmosphere grounded in Christian values

Our Current Need

We are launching a $125,000 fundraising campaign to purchase 3.75 acres of land adjacent to our current facilities. This land is vital to our mission and includes:

  • 0.75 acres of flat fields with a spring-fed freshwater source: This portion of land contains a natural spring fed directly from Mount Kenya, which provides pure, clean water that currently supplies the orphanage. A mechanical pumping system installed on the stream pulls the water and delivers it through underground pipes to a holding tank on Pavilion Village’s existing property. While we rely on this water daily, the land it flows through is not currently under our ownership. Securing this land will protect our access to clean drinking water for generations to come.

  • 3 acres of established tea plantation: This field is planted with approximately 5,000 tea bushes, and can become a sustainable source of monthly income to support daily operations, reducing dependency on donations and empowering Pavilion Village to meet ongoing needs.

🍃 Why Tea Farming

Tea is one of Kenya’s most valuable crops and plays a significant role in its economy. Pavilion Village is located near Mount Kenya, in a region ideal for tea cultivation. Here’s why tea is such a promising opportunity:

  • Year-Round Growing Season: Kenya's equatorial climate and consistent rainfall allow tea to be harvested every 14–17 days, with peak yields from March to July and October to December.

  • Ideal Conditions: The Mount Kenya region, including Nyeri County, features elevations between 1,500–2,500 meters (5,000–7,000 feet) and rich, well-drained soils—perfect for growing premium-quality tea.

  • Hand-Harvested for Quality: Kenyan tea is mostly picked by hand, preserving flavor and ensuring only the top leaves are collected.

  • Reliable Income Potential: With minimal seasonal variation, Kenyan tea fields can produce consistent yields, offering a dependable revenue stream to help provide for the children of Pavilion Village.

🙏 How You Can Help

Your generous contribution will directly support:

  • 💧 Securing ownership of our essential water supply

  • 🌱 Sustaining daily operations through tea-farming income

  • 🏠 Providing for the ongoing care, education, and discipleship of our children

Ways to Give:

  • One-Time Donation – Any gift helps us reach our goal

  • Monthly Partnership – Provide long-term impact

  • Church & Business Sponsorships – Multiply your ministry reach

If donations exceed the land acquisition costs, all additional funds will be used to help purchase a much-needed multi-passenger bus. The orphanage currently relies on an aging 15-passenger van that can no longer safely or reliably transport all of the children to school, medical appointments, or church. Despite ongoing maintenance, the vehicle is failing, and a new bus will significantly enhance our ability to care for and serve the children.

"Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction..."
